Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

During his service in the 105th Independent Guards Air Regiment he ensured that all instrumentation and electrical systems functioned smoothly. Regiment-wide he supported 14,000 aircraft sorties, including 1906 nighttime sorties, during which 533,850 kilograms of various types of cargo and 8461 people were transported. This included 1264 aircraft sorties into the enemy's rear to aid partisans, including 14 daytime blind flying sorties, during which 187,842 kilograms of ammunition and other goods were transported and 1540 wounded partisans were flown out.

Attempting to ease sorties in U-2 planes in adverse weather conditions for the aircrews as much as possible, both during the day and at night, as well as when flying blind [i.e. using instruments only], engineer Lapin refitted the planes' lighting so they all had the same, most convenient type. On all aircraft he performed repairs at their home airfields, without interrupting their combat operations. He tuned and tested all instruments, ensuring they worked smoothly and provided accurate readings. This enabled the aircrews to perfectly carry out the most complex missions flying U-2s in the blind.

The instrumentation and electrical systems are in a constant state of combat readiness.

He improved upon the process of using the engine's energy for various purposes simultaneously: charging the on-board batteries, powering the radio and its batteries, and illuminating the crew bays.

Prior to joining the 105th Independent Guards Air Regiment he saw frontline service, supporting 1500 combat sorties in the 518th Fighter Regiment and 3996 combat sorties in the 763rd Night Bomber Regiment.

He is dedicated to the Party of Lenin and Stalin and the Socialist Motherland.

For his selfless efforts and the initiative he displayed in supporting the regiment's combat operations he deserves to be awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd Class.
