Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:

Doctor M.A. Khurgin holds a PhD in medicine and has written a number of scientific publications. He is an Associate Professor and a highly qualified surgeon who possesses outstanding skills and audacity.

Working in Tikhvin during the Sinyavino campaign and subsequently with Evacuation Hospital nr. 2750 during the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, he personally performed approximately 750 complicated operations, and over 170 operations were performed by younger doctors under his supervision. No patients died after these procedures. Over 3000 wounded soldiers that were treated by him returned to service.

Aside from his medical duties, doctor Khurgin performs a great deal of pedagogical work at the Advanced Medical Officer Training Courses. Comrade Khurgin performs his duties with great enthusiasm, all the while refining his methods.
