2. Guards Master Sergeant Dmitry Yakovlevich Kafanov, depot manager in a supply platoon, for the fact that he effortlessly worked day and night delivering food supplies to the combat units, like to the combat units located near the Komarov farm on January 17, 1943. The supply unit and the field kitchen were located near the Aleksandrovsky farm. The enemy attacked the Aleksandrovsky farm, attempting to cut off the combat units from the rear area.

Food supply to the combat units was further complicated by intensive bombing, but due to the leadership skills and boldness of Guards Master Sergeant Kafanov, hot food was delivered in time at Komarov, where the combat units were located.
